Afrika Tikkun announced today that leading African IT company EOH has donated R800 000 to its Child and Youth Development Programme. At an event held at Afrika Tikkun’s Uthando centre on Thursday, the executive team of EOH reiterated the company’s commitment to uplifting the youth of Africa.
Said EOH CEO Asher Bobhot: “The vision of Afrika Tikkun of uplifting communities and preparing disadvantaged youth to be part of growing the African dream is completely shared by EOH and we are delighted at this opportunity to help.”
Marc Lubner, CEO of Afrika Tikkun, said that the organisation is delighted to see a growing trend among South African companies of assisting NGOs working with the youth. “Our unique holistic development model has been proven to empower disadvantaged youth and assist them in becoming fully contributing members of the growing South African economy.
“Job creation as part of youth development is vital to continued economic stability, and was a prominent part of the recent State of the Nation address. Our programme gives youth the opportunity to reach their potential, enter the job market and become creative contributing citizens.
“We are fully aligned with the government’s developmental priorities that maximise positive socio-economic impact. Afrika Tikkun incorporates sustainability planning and impact reporting in all its programmes.”
The money donated by EOH will fund child and youth development hubs at two of Afrika Tikkun’s six centres (Uthando and Mfuleni). These hubs offer multiple projects aimed at youth development, including the computer-based learning support centres, which is directly aligned to EOH’s expertise.
