A couple of weeks ago, we introduced you to one of our Tikkun USA heroes, Lee-Ann Vermaak. Lee-Ann’s bid in the Phildelphia Half Marathon is coming up in less than a week, and she has a few words to share with the Afrika Tikkun USA community:
“I am a Capetonian living in New York City. Annually my friends from all over Africa and I run a race or half marathon for a charity of our choosing. This year my company Acceleration decided to support Afrika Tikkun and therefor my friends and I read up about Afrika Tikkun and decided that there is no better non-profit that we can support this year. There are 5 of us going to Philadelphia and two of us running the Philadelphia Half Marathon on Sunday, November 17th.
I am very excited to be able to be part of something so amazing like Afrika Tikkun. The fact that Afrika Tikkun commits to these children from “cradle to career” is so meaningful and impactful to the future of these children. I have also heard that many of the youths whose lives were positively impacted go back and donate their time and experiences with children within the program. That in itself speaks volumes.
