Many of our donors came out to both Delft and Mfuleni in the wintery cold weather on 18 July – for Mandela Day 2013 – to offer their 67 minutes of goodwill in honour of Nelson Mandela. Whether it was cooking in the kitchen, working in the garden, painting, playing with the kids or visiting the ill, donors where keen to get their hands dirty and make every moment of their 67 minutes count. Donations of food and clothing were flowing into our Centres as well as boxes of sweets and chocolates for our ECD children which brought big smiles to both the children and the donors as they were handed out. Adding extra excitement to Mandela Day was a camera crew going around filming for a TV series called Simcha which was aired on the 4th of August on SABC 2. The day was a huge success and there was no doubt that every person leaving the Centre that day felt a sense of fulfillment and love for each other, our country and most importantly – Madiba!
